ALEKSANDER XHUVANI HOUSE MUSEUM

On the street known by all the people of Elbasan, “Rruga e Jashari”, or in the neighborhoo “Kala” houses a house which, although more than a century old, gives the impression of a villa but uninhabited. Surrounded by a garden full of flowers, for many years the great personality of the Albanian language and education, Aleksandër Xhuvani, was born and lived in this villa, where today the University of Elbasan bears his name. Anyone who passes by this street will notice this villa, which is small from the outside but so big from the inside. The windows, closed with wooden shutters, hid inside the rooms a large archive of writings of personalities and teachers of the people, which for more than 26 years were faithfully guarded by a citizen employed by the Municipality of Elbasan. At the time of the dictatorship, the house where Aleksandr Xhuvan was born was turned into a museum, it was adapted and turned into a museum, and consists of several environments, the work studio of Aleksandr Xhuvan, (today an archive) where the life and his activity, the fire room, the children’s room, the waiting room and the bedroom.During the years 1991 and until now, very few investments have been made in this villa, which is mostly closed.
