The “St. Lucia” Catholic Church with a bell tower was built in 1909. The church represents a cult building with its relevant functional premises. At the same time, it is also known as an important center where the patriotic clergyman Dom Nikoll Kaçorri (1862-1917) held mass. This personality with a reputation throughout the citizenry was also the initiator and supporter of the ideas of the patriotic movement for learning the Albanian language and for the independence of Albania. Durrës patriots gathered in the cell of this church, from where important decisions were made that influenced the historical events of the city, such as the raising of the national flag in Durrës on November 26, 1912.
