Kanina Castle is located 6 km from the city of Vlora. This castle has been mentioned since the 4th century. However, traces from the Illyrian period have been discovered there. It is thought that it was built in the 3rd century. Subsequent traces are those of the Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish periods. The castle was rebuilt by Justinian in the 5th century and rebuilt by Sultan Suleimani in 1531. The castle rises on top of a hill 380 meters above sea level. It has an area of 3.6 hectares. From here there is a very beautiful view towards Vlora and its bay.
