It started to be frequented as a beach only after the 90s. Before it was a military zone where no one was allowed to go. This beach with a 3 km coastline is one of the most sought after areas and almost all the beaches are private managed by tourist operators. The public area is just the coastline near the Rana e Hedhun nature monument, from which the whole area takes its name. Rana e Hedhun does not attract mass tourism and there are not many hotels. The beach can be reached on foot after leaving the car in one of the tourist operators’ parking lots.Along the coastline there are bars, beach bars, restaurants, hotels and campsites among the best and most frequented. Every beginning of June, on the beaches of Rana e Hedhun, the biggest UNUM electronic music festival takes place. Some of the most popular DJs in the world play music 24 hours a day, 4 days a week. Foreign tourists, mostly young, are the visitors of this festival, making Lezha the epicenter of tourism in Albania.
