The Skanderbeg Memorial – is the place where the “Treaty of Lezha” was held on March 2, 1444, and where the national hero Gjergj Kastriot-Skenderbeu was buried on January 17, 1468. It was a cult object that was used as a church and a mosque in different periods. This building, which belongs to the XIV century, is of the basilica type with a length of 17m and a width of 8m. On its walls there is a fresco of Saint Nicholas. According to the legends, in 1478, the Turks who conquered Lezha, destroyed and opened the tomb of Skanderbeg and it is said that his bones were taken by the soldiers and they wrapped them in gold and silver to use as a talisman for invincibility in battles. The burial place of Skënderbeu is one of the most important monuments in the history of Albania. In addition to the walls of the church, this building also contains the apse where the bust of Skanderbeg, the fresco of Saint Nicholas, the windows and the three arches above the church door are located. On the walls are hung 25 bronze shields which show the 25 main battles of Skanderbeg.
